TERA and ARA make the news!

TERA and the Alliance for Risk Assessment (ARA) were mentioned in the article,
“Risk Assessment Coalition Holds Workshop Critiquing EPA’s PFOA Value”
on the InsideEPA.com website.

Dr. Michael Dourson worked with multiple agencies, researchers, and law firms to put together the ARA workshop; Beyond Science and Decisions: Workshop XIV in Washington, DC October 17, 18 and 19, 2023. The workshop saw over 200 in attendance onsite and online and was the first of its kind on PFAS/PFOA. Several presenters from around the world discussed PFAS/PFOA risk levels.  Dr. Dourson gave a presentation regarding the EPA’s current stance on PFAS/PFOA in relation to Health Canada and ATSDR. Given the EPA’s stance, several law firms discussed why industry might consider litigation against the EPA and explained that billions of dollars may be spent on the legal issues associated with PFAS/PFOA and the EPA.

The collation of researchers and scientists that Dr. Dourson and his advisory groups brought together on this issue is an example of TERA’s commitment to nonbiased science. If you would like to speak to one of our scientists on this or other risk assessment issues. Contact us at 513.542.7475
or email Dr. Dourson at dourson@tera.org

International collaboration confirmed the earlier findings of TERA scientists
The finding that the human half life of PFOA (a measure of the time it remains in our body) appears to lie in the range of 0.5 to 1.5 years.

The Independent Charities Seal of Excellence is awarded to the members of Independent Charities of America and Local Independent Charities of America that have, upon rigorous independent review, been able to certify, document, and demonstrate on an annual basis that they meet the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness.  These standards include those required by the US Government for inclusion in the Combined Federal Campaign, probably the most exclusive fund drive in the world.  Of the 1,000,000 charities operating in the United States today, it is estimated that fewer than 50,000, or 5 percent, meet or exceed these standards, and, of those, fewer than 2,000 have been awarded this Seal.
