Perchlorate

GENOTOXICITY

  • Genotoxicity assay of ammonium perchlorate. Conducted by ManTech Environmental Technology, Inc. in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Funded by the Perchlorate Study Group. This study was to determine the potential genotoxicity associated with the exposure to ammonium perchlorate. Three studies were included: a Salmonella typhimurium reverse mutation assay, a mouse lymphoma mammalian cell gene mutation assay, and a micronucleus as in mice. The original, approved protocol was not followed completely. Below is the original protocol and also the protocol under which the study was completed. A repeat of the mouse lymphoma assay was conducted by BioReliance to address issues raised in the EPA review of the ManTech study. This work was also funded by the Perchlorate Study Group. Submitted to the U.S. EPA.
