Two eminent scientists, Drs. Daniel Briggs and P.J. (Bert) Hakkinen,
have recently joined TERA as Visiting
Scientists. Dr. Briggs is a
Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology with over 25 years industry
experience managing safety assessments for a wide variety of consumer products
and interacting with regulatory agencies. He
also has extensive experience working with industry trade associations and has
led several multi-company committees in the design and execution of large-scale
toxicology programs. Dr. Briggs
will contribute to a variety of TERA projects, including the new Peer Consultation program. Dr. Hakkinen is an
international expert in exposure assessment who will provide support to the Peer
Consultation program and numerous other TERA
efforts. He
has over 20 years of professional
experience in toxicology, and assessing human exposures and risks, including
work at Procter & Gamble involving global human exposure and risk assessment
support for numerous types of consumer products and chemicals.
He also chaired the Exposure Assessment Task Group of the American
Chemistry Council (ACC) from 1991 to 1996, and chaired the ACC’s Human
Exposure Assessment Technical Implementation Panel for several months in 2001
