Education

"Sloth, like rust, consumes faster than labor wears, while the used key is always bright." -- Benjamin Franklin

Toxicology Excellence for Risk Assessment (TERA) is committed to working with the public to improve knowledge and understanding of risk assessment issues.  Our education goal is to share our knowledge with others who are interested in learning risk assessment through developing our risk assessment training courses suitable to a variety of audiences including industry, government, the legal community or citizens' groups.  We strive to make risk issues and the underlying science understandable to the intended audience.

We have a particular interest in working with environmental or citizen action organizations, through lectures or interactive discussions, to increase their understanding of risk assessment issues so that they can have a more active role in environmental decision making.

Training

TERA staff are dedicated to the goal of providing training to the public and private groups. We have participated in and led national and international risk assessment training programs and in community relations activities.  Go to the Training Webpage for more information.

Public Awareness & Outreach

As a non-profit organization, Toxicology Excellence for Risk Assessment (TERA) is committed to working with the public to improve knowledge and understanding of risk assessment issues. We have a particular interest in working with environmental or citizen action organizations, through lectures or interactive discussions, to increase their understanding of risk assessment issues so that they can have a more active role in environmental decision making.  Check out the Public Awareness & Outreach webpage for more information.

Invited Scientific Presentations

Each Thursday, TERA scientists gather around the conference room table to update each other on the latest methods in risk assessment.  On occasion, we have invited some well-known members of the scientific community to present their cutting edge work in the field of risk assessment.   Visit the Invited Scientific Presentations webpage to see details of who has presented on what topics.

TERA Tools

TERA Tools  is a resource for the risk assessment community provided by TERA that provides information on default values, dosimetric adjustment and benchmark dose modeling.

StateHELP

The StateHELP (Hazard Evaluation Lending Program) allows states to receive up to 10 hours annually of technical support from TERA scientists free of charge. States can take advantage of this project by requesting either technical support for risk assessment problems over the telephone, or requesting a written review of one of the state's risk assessments. For further information, please fill out our feedback form.
